Imbalance.

The conceptual garment installation Imbalance explores the tension between internalized anxiety and manufactured appearances. The one-day pop- up begins with an arrangement of minimalist white silk dresses. Participants are encouraged to engage with these garments, spraying them with water that brings out the chemical dye embedded in the fabric. The resulting montages of color could be beautiful or jarring. Each participant’s experience is inherently unique, their perception informed not just by aesthetic preferences but by their personal mode of engagement. Fenoglietto’s vision was inspired by her observation of the opioid crisis in her hometown, itself a modality for understanding how people conceal emotions and repress trauma, and a reminder of life’s temporal nature.
